"BECAUSE OF HER INFLUENCE, BURLESQUE IS BIG RIGHT NOW" The Independent
International showgirl superstar, novelist, and Europe's undisputed queen of burlesque, IMMODESTY BLAIZETM is fast becoming a national treasure.
Recently dubbed 'The Goddess', her sophisticated performances and exquisite ‘bombshell’ curves have dazzled audiences from London to Vegas. Her impressive client roster includes top names such as Dior, Cartier, and Damien Hirst, and she has graced a host of prestigious venues including the Whitehall Banqueting House and L.A.’s Orpheum Theatre.
Inspired by the glamour of iconic screen seductresses such as Ava Gardner and Sophia Loren as well as camp kitsch icons such as Jayne Mansfield, Liberace and Grace Jones, Immodesty is unanimously credited with spearheading the arrival of burlesque back into the mainstream in Europe.
In 2002 she was already performing with Goldfrapp on live shows and pop promos and by 2005 Immodesty headlined the first ever theatrical West End burlesque show, which ran for 5 months and 200 shows. By 2007 she had been crowned the ‘Reigning Queen of Burlesque’in Las Vegas’ Burlesque Hall of Fame. Invitations to debate at the Oxford Union and take residency at the eminent Ascot racecourse followed, and in 2008 Immodesty bought her critically acclaimed, sell-out extravaganza The Tease Show to London’s Koko, with artistes such as Marc Almond, Barry Adamson, and comedian Julian Clary. By 2009 Immodesty signed with EMI Music, and released the documentary 'Burlesque Undressed' which was screened in over 60 cinemas in London and UK, and premiered worldwide from Milan to South Korea to USA Film Festival.
Immodesty is also an acclaimed writer, her debut novel 'Tease'- her first foray into the genre of ‘bonkbuster’ fiction garnered five star reviews and became a top ten bestseller. Immodesty is already underway with her follow up novel 'Ambition', due to be published July 2010.
As the ‘Reigning Queen of Burlesque’ Immodesty’s acts include some of the most legendary and stunning centrepieces in the world; her enormous glittering vintage telephone, her eight foot high rococo rocking horse, and her crystal encrusted bath to name a few, and with her exquisite array of ornate costumes which ooze sparkling Hollywood chic, she always delivers a beautiful, elaborate spectacle. Bringing mega-watt dazzling shows to the masses, Immodesty continues to captivate audiences with her own unique brand of opulent, high voltage glamour.
